Z CANDLES newly opened its first retail storefront in Lake Oswego, Oregon in February 2025. Customers are able to purchase candles + candle accessories, create custom candles, and refill candle vessels. The candle lab is open for walk-ins, group classes, or private parties. The store has an elevated vibe with a custom mural, candelabra inspired chandeliers, warm wood tones, gold-colored accessories, polished quartz counters and a cozy sitting area.
Established by Erica Zabudsky (left) nearly 10 years ago, Hillary Gibson (right) joined as business partner in 2024. Erica, a native Oregonian, and Hillary, an Oregon resident for 17 years, met when their sons were classmates at Forest Hills Elementary. Hillary & Erica spent time volunteering for the school's PTO while each working on their professional ventures. Erica has a background in marketing, and Hillary has been managing vacation rentals for 10 years after a career as a private reading specialist for dyslexic students.
Erica & Hillary both share a passion for creating comfortable cozy spaces with a strong belief that candles are an essential element in creating a desirable environment via both appearance and aroma. Erica has been making candles for 15 years, and what started as a personal quest for a clean burning candle has grown into Z CANDLES. This new brick + mortar storefront is an exciting step forward after being featured by many local boutiques and scattered throughout the US with both wholesale and online retail sales.
Z CANDLES are all hand poured in Lake Oswego, Oregon and are made with 100% soy wax derived from domestic soy beans and high quality fragrance oils. Z CANDLES do not contain dyes or phthalates, and the wicks are made from natural cotton with no lead or zinc for a clean burn without harmful chemicals being released into the air.
The new Z CANDLES Boutique + Lab is located in Kruse Village, Lake Oswego and is more than a just retail store - it is an experience. This inviting space welcomes the community to create custom candles and stay awhile to catch up with friends, or visit a nearby business while your candle sets and then return for pickup. Kruse Village is also home to fellow newcomer, Surefire Fine Jewelry, and a wide variety of businesses perfect to grab a bite to eat or sip a drink while your custom candle sets.
